Job Description

Overview: This position is responsible for answering incoming phone calls, providing excellent customer service to visitors, patients, family members and connecting them with the appropriate resources. Qualifications:

Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak fluent English. Ability to respond appropriately to customer/coworker. Ability to have interactions with a wide variety of people. Maintain confidential information. Ability to communicate only the facts to recipients or to decline to reveal information. Ability to project a professional, friendly, helpful demeanor. Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser. Comfortable with Windows OS and learning new applications.

Responsibilities: Provides reception services to patients, family members, and hospital staff in a professional, pleasant, and helpful manner.
  • Greets visitors, physicians, patients, and staff in friendly receptive manner.
  • Promptly and courteously acknowledges individuals at the desk.
  • Always maintains a professional appearance.
  • Exhibits a friendly, outgoing, energetic demeanor. A can-do attitude.
  • Displays warmth, concern, and respect for patients and families.
  • Displays an appropriate sense of urgency in response to visitor requests and/or complaints.
  • Fields questions and refers to appropriate person and/or department.
  • Maintains a positive and collaborative working relationships with other hospital team members.
  • Communication with others is open, honest, and respectful manner.
  • Maintains friendly voice on the phone.
  • Reports maintenance and housekeeping needs to Nurse Manager or House Supervisor.
  • Coordinates with the volunteer escorts to assure a quick and efficient transport of patients/visitors to their destination.
Ensures accurate and timely handling of telephone system.
  • Answers telephone promptly and courteously.
  • Utilizes proper phone techniques, i.e.: hold, transfer, etc.
  • Directs calls to appropriate person/department.
  • Takes messages as needed.
  • Provides alert, helpful and efficient responses to phone callers.

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is $15.91per hour - $25.77per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
