Marcilliat & Mills PLLC, a fast-paced, highly reputable criminal defense firm, seeks a mid-level Associate Attorney (2-5 years of experience) to join our growing team in our downtown Raleigh office.
The ideal candidate will independently maintain a busy caseload ranging from misdemeanors to low and mid-level felonies with minimal supervision. Additionally, the candidate will also provide support to senior attorneys on high level state and federal felony cases, with the opportunity to grow into handling high level felony cases over time.
Job duties include:
- Independently handle caseload and supervise assigned paralegal to ensure outstanding client service;
- Maintain meticulous file notes and provide frequent updates to supervising attorneys;
- Attend District and Superior Court sessions as directed; travel to various counties required.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an ABA accredited law school;
- Licensed to practice law in North Carolina and a minimum of two years of experience handling misdemeanor and felony cases in District and Superior Court;
- Proficient in Office 365; and
- Positive attitude with the ability to work with a team, as well as independently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Genuine willingness to work on some of the most challenging and complex criminal cases in North Carolina state and federal courts, including homicides, sex crimes, white collar crimes, and domestic violence cases; and
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines;
-Those with prior experience as Assistant Public Defenders or Assistant District Attorneys are encouraged to apply
-Those with prior experience with federal criminal cases are encouraged to apply; however, no federal experience is required. We are willing to train the right candidate!
